OneOC: Did you know that the state of California alone has more than 161,000 homeless residents? That number isn’t pretty, but there’s still hope! Click this link to find the right opportunity for you to help share the Christmas spirit with those in need this year.

Grandma’s House of Hope: Getting involved with this nonprofit organization in Orange County is the perfect way to give back to your community! The organization gives free meals to those in need and is looking for volunteers to prepare and deliver these meals. Whether you’re a great cook or not, this is a great way for you to help feed the hungry and get involved in your community!

Safe Celebration

Everyone loves a good winter-scented candle this time of year. But did you know that each year, up to 7,400 fires are started because of household candles? Yikes! That doesn’t mean you should throw out your candles completely, but you should be sure to be extra careful when lighting candles in your apartment. Battery-powered candles might be a good alternative, giving you the same ambiance without the added danger. If you do decide to light real candles, be sure to never leave them unattended!

Another fire hazard to be aware of is live Christmas trees. If you opt for a live tree over a fake one, make sure you keep your tree watered so it doesn’t dry out. Dry pine needles are extra flammable! Also, be sure to keep all open flames away from the branches, and make sure you turn all lights off when you’re not at home. Stay safe and enjoy the holidays!
